It is now legally required that any new public building have at least one bathroom facility for the handicapped. Public bathrooms must have minimum of one stall that is equipped for use by the handicapped.
Barrier free bathroom design is not only necessary for people who need to use a wheelchair. There are a number of other categories of disability that require different levels of barrier free design. Take someone with arthritis, for example. Ordinary catches and door handles, and even toilet flushes, can be agonizingly impossible for them. Barrier free design for the blind is yet another separate category.





Effective bathroom design is the successful marriage of practicality and beauty. Fortunately, today, there are so many wonderful products on the market that this is not difficult to achieve at all.
In very tight spaces, it is not always possible to fit a regular door. Homeowners have a number of choices here. They can choose to fit a sliding door or a concertina door or pocket door, to give it another name. Either of these choices won’t take up any swinging space, and they can both also be very stylish.
